Episode 5: Waste to Treasure
Follow Lea Ogunlami to fabric sustainability expert Tejidos Royo in Valencia, Spain. Even the most efficient cutting and construction techniques result in 15 percent offcut. Diesel and Tejidos Royo have developed an industrial process by which fabric waste can be shredded and broken down, re-spun and fused with conventional recycled cotton to create a new yarn, the Diesel Rehab Denim. An example of state-of-the-art circularity with zero water consumption and drastically reduced usage of chemicals and energy in the denim dying process.
